How much weight can you actually lose on a keto diet?
I won’t keep you in suspense….
The answer is, and the truth is, you can lose all the weight you’ve ever wanted to lose on a keto diet.
A keto diet will very likely be the best fat burning diet you’ve ever tried. It’s because you turn your body into a fat burner by the types of foods you eat. It really comes down to that.
If you’re interested in learning how to use a keto diet to lose weight, I have a free course that teaches you how.
Why a Keto Diet is Amazing for Weight Loss
You’re probably wondering why a keto diet is the best diet for weight loss.
It’s actually pretty simple once you understand it.
How it works is this (I have to get into a little bit of science to explain it):
Your body has two primary places it gets energy from.
Stored energy in your liver called glycogen and stored energy in your body called adipose tissue, or fat.
Your body will always use glycogen first. Always. Only when your glycogen storage is used up will your body use the actual fat on your body as energy.
To lose fat, you need to use up all your glycogen storage first. The problem with most diets is that it they constantly replenish your glycogen storage so you don’t get access to burn actual body fat.
The Best Way To Lose Fat
Burning fat is about putting your body in a state where it’s constantly using body fat for energy.
The best way to do this is to keep glycogen storage drained so your body has no choice but to use body fat for energy.
You want to eat low carb foods. Because it’s carbs that replenish glycogen stores. By cutting down carbs, you also cut down how much you replenish glycogen stores. And with low amounts of glycogen, your body will turn to body fat for energy.
That’s why low carb diets are so popular for fat loss.
So Why a Keto Diet For Quick Fat Loss?
Low carb diets themselves are useful for fat loss…
But when you go keto, it accelerates fat loss even more. It’s like fat loss on steroids.
A keto diet is VERY LOW carb. So this means you are replenishing your glycogen stores even less. And that means more fat burning.
But a keto diet is more than just a low carb diet. There is also protein and fats. And these other macronutrients need to be eaten in the right proportions because if they are not, they will prevent you from burning fat at an optimal rate.
A keto diet (for weight loss) is really about eating types of foods that help put your body in a state of fat burning for as long as possible.
It’s called nutritional ketosis.
When you’re in this state, your body is burning fat like crazy.
A lot of people lose at least a few pounds a week right off the start.
It’s just so incredibly effective for fat loss.
But you need to make sure you do it properly. A big problem I see is people eat the wrong types of foods (mistakingly) and it doesn’t put them into the optimal fat burning state of ketosis.
