I’m a huge fan of Chowder.
Specifically, Clam Chowder.
I didn’t have to many things on my “must do list”, however eating Chowder at Pike Place Chowder was one of them.
I had heard about this legendary place on the internet.
Literally every thing I read about things to do in Seattle mentioned Pike Place Chowder in one form or another.
Being the big fan of chowder that I am, I just had to see what all the noise was.
Well, the day I arrived in Seattle, I made my way to Pacific Place to try this famous chowder
It wasn’t too busy.
I think there was 5 people in line ahead of me.
I looked up at the menu and was surprised at how big it was. I guess I thought they just served Chowder maybe.
Pike Place Chowder Menu
They server all kinds of seafoods.
My friend ordered a deep fried oyster sandwich. It was pretty good. They have shrimp and fish and other kinds of seafoods too.
They have several different types of Chowders. Their New England Chowder is their most popular one.
That’s what I ordered.
And I got it my New England Chowder in a bread bowl!
What it tasted like
It was really really good.
As far as chowders goes, It belongs in my top 5.
I’d say the BEST ever chowder I ever had was Old Spaghetti Factory’s Boston clam chowder.
Anyway, this one was really good like I said. I devoured a the bowl and wanted more.
There are a lot of clams in it and it is definitely a chunky soup with lots of ingredients. I felt there was a little too much celery.
I went back for more
On my last day in Seattle I really wanted to have another bowl of New England Clam Chowder. I made my way to Pacific Place again.
It was less busy this time. I walked right up and ordered.
I got my food immediately.
I ordered a large this time without the bread bowl. I just wanted to eat a lot of clam chowder. There was an option for the biggest bowl that costed 17 dollars. I was thinking about doing it. But glad I didn’t.
The large bowl came with a piece of bread that I didn’t like very much. It was too sourdoughey. And also came with crackers that I don’t use in my soups.
The large bowl is better value for your money compared to the bread bowl. You get more soup in the bowl.
mmmm. Just look how delicious it is!
For $10 you can have a bowl too! Just go to Seattle haha.
I was really hungry when I started eating but when I finished I was satisfied. I don’t think I wanted any more.
Overall, I would 100% recommend Pike Place Chowder. I didn’t try their other seafoods but their Chowders are delicious.
Pike Place Chowder locations
They have two locations in Seattle.
Both are decently close to each other. About a 12 minute walk.
One location is in Pike Place Market and the other is in Pacific Place mall.
The one in Pike Place market is god awful busy. You’re probably going to be standing in line for 20-30 minutes. But the experience of eating Chowder there would be more fun.
The location in Pacific Place is located centrally and is easy to get to from anywhere in the Downtown Belmont area. It’s on the top floor (4th floor) with all the other restaurants and food places.
The lines here are much much shorter, if there is a line at all. And they open later too. This location closes at 7. Pike Place location closes when Pike Place Market closes, at like 5 or something.
The location in Pacific Place is about a 5 minute walk from my very centrally located hotel Hotel Max. I’m actually surprised I didn’t have more chowder than I did. Thank god it wasn’t open late or I’d gain a few pounds.
So when you visit Seattle, make sure you check out Pike Place Chowder! If yummy in your belly is your thing!
